Rooted Resurgence Festival Party! — Opening Night
- 120 mins
Celebrate SF Urban Film Fest’s 10th anniversary by joining us for the Rooted Resurgence festival kick-off party! As we support the community-rooted reinvigoration of San Francisco, this year’s festival theme – rooted resurgence – is especially meaningful. Our 10th anniversary festival aims to uplift the folks who constantly rework and regenerate social and physical infrastructure with possibility and positivity.
This party is SF Urban Film Fest’s expression of our deep appreciation of the multi-year partnerships, creative collaboration and support of all our allies, friends, donors, and volunteers. We are honored to be part of the social infrastructure connecting activism with the arts, weaving urban planning with film, and celebrating life in cities while thinking deeply about our future.
The evening features a special screening of Vincent Woo’s “Tunnel Vision” a film that takes us on multiple BART rides all over the Bay, a treat for transit nerds and film enthusiasts alike. BART faces multiple threats to its existence but is a crucial lifeline for workers, families, and visitors that connects places and faces for over 50 years. We invite you to learn more about the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the regional agency governing regional transportation and transit including BART, and their upcoming policy initiatives.
Complimentary appetizers will be served, and all of your favorite alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be for sale at the no-host bar, including our featured “rooted resurgence” mocktail. All bar proceeds will go to our fabulous venue partner, Oasis. As a community location which has reinvented itself multiple times over, Oasis exemplifies rooted resurgence. From its start as a community pool in the 80’s, to its contemporary moment as a staple in San Francisco’s drag nightclub scene, Oasis has always stayed rooted in community throughout its many transformations.
To stay on theme, it’s best to take transit to the event. Transit options to Oasis include the 22 Muni bus, and of course, BART on Market Street.
Event ticket price includes one drink ticket.
Doors open 5pm; Program 6-8pm. Oasis is 21 and over.
